Mounting Your Bike On the Zwift Hub

Now that your Zwift Hub is set up, follow the steps below to get your bike on the trainer:

Always check your bike's user manual to make sure your bike is trainer compatible before installing your bike on any trainer.

Ensure your bike's chain is lubricated before installing it on the Zwift Hub.

  1. Ensure your Zwift Hub is placed in a good spot for Zwifting.

  2. If you haven't already, remove the rear wheel from your bike.

  3. Follow the appropriate steps below for mounting a bike with a quick release or a thru axle.

Quick Release

If your bike has a quick release, follow the appropriate steps depending if you're using a Zwift Cog or a cassette:

Zwift Cog

If your Zwift Hub has a Zwift Cog installed, follow these steps:

  1. Shift your bike's gears so the chain is on the smallest chain ring on the front and one of the middle cogs at the back.

  2. Pull the derailleur away from the bike at the same time as you lower your bike towards the trainer.

  3. Align the chain with the Zwift Cog and position the rear dropouts of your bike onto the quick release skewer.

    Check that your rear dropouts are properly seated on the quick release skewer.

  4. Tighten the nut on the quick release skewer and when nearly tight, pull up the quick release lever to lock in place.

    You'll know it's tight enough if the handle leaves a small imprint in the palm of your hand.

  5. Check your bike feels secure on the trainer.

    Do not get on your bike if the bike does not feel secure on the trainer.

Cassette

If your Zwift Hub has a cassette installed, follow these steps:

  1. Pull the derailleur away from the bike at the same time as you lower your bike towards the Zwift Hub.

  2. Align the chain with the smallest cog on the cassette and position the rear dropouts of your bike onto the quick release skewer.

    Check your rear dropouts are properly seated on the quick release skewer.

  3. Tighten the nut on the quick release skewer and when nearly tight, pull up the quick release lever to lock in place.

    You'll know it's tight enough if the handle leaves a small imprint in the palm of your hand.

  4. Check your bike feels secure on the trainer.

    Do not mount the bike if the bike does not feel secure on the Zwift Hub.

Thru Axle

If your bike has a thru axle, follow the appropriate steps below depending if you're using a Zwift Cog or a cassette:

If your Zwift Hub has a Zwift Cog installed, follow these steps:

  1. Shift your bike's gears so the chain is on the smallest chain ring on the front and one of the middle cogs at the back.

  2. Pull the derailleur away from the bike at the same time as you lower your bike towards the trainer.

  3. Align the chain with the Zwift Cog and position the rear dropouts of your bike onto the adapters.

    Check that your rear dropouts are properly seated on the adapters.

  4. Insert the thru axle from your bike from the non-drive side through the cassette on the trainer.

  5. Use an Allen key to tighten the thru axle to the manufacturer's specifications.

  6. Check your bike feels secure on the trainer.

    Do not mount the bike if the bike does not feel secure on the trainer.

Cassette

If your Zwift Hub has a cassette installed, follow these steps:

  1. Pull the derailleur away from the bike at the same time as you lower your bike towards the Zwift Hub.

  2. Align the chain with the smallest cog on the cassette and position the rear dropouts of your bike onto the adapters.

    Check your rear dropouts are properly seated on the adapters.

  3. Insert the thru axle from your bike from the non-drive side through the cassette on the trainer.

  4. Use an Allen key to tighten the thru axle to the manufacturer's specifications.
