    Hi everyone!

We've now added flags for England, Wales, N. Ireland, and Scotland to Zwift and the Zwift Mobile Link. We'll be updating it to web profiles soon.

Thank you again for your patience!

    Ride On!

Hi Alistair, Ireland has a flag in Zwift, but Scotland/Wales fall under the ISO 3166 country code for UK (and we use that code standard in the database to identify your country).   We could figure out a way to use a non-standard country code in our web/mobile/game apps to have these as a possibility but unfortunately I don't think it'll happen this winter.  I'll make a note of it for the future. We've had a few requests like this before so it does seem like there's a desire for it.

    Latest from Zwift support!

Unfortunately, Wales (nor Scotland or England) is not listed in the ISO 3166-1 country codes list, but the United Kingdom is. This is the standard by which flags are added into Zwift so I do not foresee the Welsh flag being added unless this changes.

This is a real shame, I'm changing my profile flag to "none" until the Welsh flag becomes available.

This is shocking really; there has been a lot of griping going on about everyone in the UK ringing under the 'Union Flag'. TBH I would happily ride under the Red Cross of St.George without any problems, as would the Scots under the St. Andrew's Cross, the Welsh under the Baner Cymru or Y Ddraig Goch (meaning "The Red Dragon") and the Northern Irish under the Northern Irish flag, however, I am aware of the obvious political connotations this would have for some Northern Irish People.

Whether the flags are listed in the ISO 3166-1 country codes list or not, the flags should be listed - If members want devolved flags, then that should be done, surely; we pay for access to Zwift for goodness sake?!

    Just my 2p's worth ;)

Yeh.  Go on.  You're basically saying that if Mark Cavendish joined he wouldn't be able to race under a Manx flag.

I have been using RowPro software with my Concept2 rowing machine for 5 years and was able to use the Scottish flag in it from way back then.

Come on sort it out. It's only a table, not a very big one at that, and you have chosen to use a particular one.  It's not as if it's a volatile table, how many new countries are added in any given year?

I can only assume that Zwift are using the BBC's Pointless quiz show definition to decide whether a country's flag should be included. - "And by a country we mean a sovereign state that is a member of the UN in its own right"   :-)

Who cares if it's on some list or not. Get a jpg or a png and add it. It's just an image file.

I don't see an option to upload an image file to the flag option. Are you talking about the profile pic?

    Leighton,

No, I'm saying Zwift only need to add some image files, and as others have said above, the list of countries they have chosen to use is just the list they chose. If they choose a different list, or just add some more nation's flags to it, I reckon their servers will not melt down and it probably won't provoke thermo-nuclear war either.

But you've actually made a good point. Let us upload an image. You can upload an image of your flag, whatever it may be, or a picture of your left pedal if you want.

    Hey Zwift Guys,

If you are not prepared to create a simple clone of the non-volatile flags database, why don't you make a couple of jerseys for the few countries that are being requested and make them freely available for riders to select?

I guess that you have a utility program to create the outfits since you have so many already created.  If its a question of copyright, the I am sure we could create something that is clearly for our country but not an exact copy. It's a blue shirt with a white Saint Andrew's cross after all - not that complicated.

    Plenty of examples below.

    Regards

    Iain   :-)

Folks. This is bonkers. There may well be a U.K. Flag and that's fine as it goes. A huge proportion of people in the different countries identify with their country flags.
There's no U.K. football team etc etc. commonwealth games are played under each country flag etc etc.
I get ISO. I don't get reliance on it. Suggest it not hard to include the extras

F*** em! I cancelled my subscription. Not over this by the way - I just started using Sufferfest exclusively instead, but I'm quite glad I'm no longer paying money to a company who is go excellent at ignoring this reasonable request.

The excuse that it's not on some poxy list of flags is a bit pathetic....

I’ve just had a quick read about ISO 3116 and 3116-2 on Wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_3166-2:GB). Subdivision names are listed in the ISO 3166-2 standard published by the ISO 3166 Maintenance Agency (ISO 3166/MA). These subdivisions allow for more granular breakdown of the sometimes coarse country definitions documented under the ISO 3166.

ISO 3166-2 provides support for countries such as Wales and Scotland.
      GB-ENG England
      GB-NIR Northern Ireland
      GB-SCT Scotland
      GB-WLS Wales

Note: 3166 does not allow for duplicate subdivisions, so the Welsh form Cymru GB-CYM is catered for under a separate standard BS 6879, but I'm sure we can live with that.

So Zwift, it looks like you can provide support for Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland and England without breaking the ISO 3116 conventions. You may have to make your country code field a little wider, but I’m sure that not such a massive task.

Looking forward to switching to the Red Dragon.

I have mentioned this before regarding a Scotland flag, come on Zwift, we are paying you money! Sort it please.

How would America like it if some company in the UK gave Americans a Canada flag because your countries are joined?

Don't belive it is difficult to add in any flags to the soft ware.

John Martin, as you can see from our comments we've all tried to persuade Zwift, to no avail. See Peter Jones comment above even tells them how. Very disappointing. I love Zwift but this leaves a bad taste.

The flags will be added this fall.   We'll make up some country codes and get them in there. It's clear now how important it is to you guys so we'll make it happen.  Sorry it has taken so long!
