- Setting up a Wattbike Pro/Trainer

Here's how to set up a Wattbike Pro/Trainer for Zwift! (Compatible with PC/Mac and iOS)

Note: In order to set up a Wattbike with Zwift, it needs the Model B computer. You can see the model ID on the back of the Wattbike computer.

ANT+ (PC/Mac)

Model B Computer

Your Wattbike needs a Model B Performance Computer for it to transmit power data over ANT+ so that Zwift can read it. Any Wattbike sold from 2013 onward has one. Previous versions with the Model A Performance Computer cannot accept firmware updates which makes them incompatible with Zwift. Contact Wattbike if you wish to upgrade to a Model B.

Latest Firmware

Make sure that you update the firmware on the Model B computer to the latest available. Wattbike has a video tutorial for this.

Setting your Model B Computer properly

There is a combined channel called Bike Speed and Cadence and Power (SPC & PWR). Zwift requires your ANT+ channel set to this (SPC & PWR). Wattbike has a video tutorial if you need instructions.

Step-by-step pairing instructions

Wattbike has a great article illustrating ANT+ pairing and BLE pairing.

Bluetooth (PC/Mac and iOS)

The Wattbike can also work over Bluetooth (BLE) for the PC/Mac and iOS clients. The requirements are similar to ANT+.

  1. A model B computer
  2. The Bluetooth model B upgrade

Wattbikes with the Model A Performance Computer cannot accept updates which makes them incompatible with Zwift. Contact Wattbike if you wish to upgrade to a Model B.

Step-by-step pairing instructions

Pairing over BLE:

1. Turn on the Wattbike, and ensure BLE is on (small icon at the bottom of the screen).

  • If BLE is not on, go to Settings > Remote > and choose Enable Bluetooth Programming Mode.
  • On your mobile device, open your Wattbike app, and pair it with your Wattbike.
  • Once the Wattbike has been found in the app, choose "Activate."
  • Close the Wattbike app.

2. Select Just Ride on the Wattbike

3. Skip entering user details on the Wattbike

4. Open Zwift

5. Make sure you have one of the methods available and set up for pairing via Bluetooth.

6. The Wattbike should appear under the Power and Cadence categories

7. Tap OK and you'll be taken to the Drop in screen. Choose your ride options, and go!

Troubleshooting

Q: My cadence is cutting in and out while riding.

A: To get continuous cadence readings, you need to turn off the Wattbike speed/cadence ANT + stream, as it's alternating and will cause those fluctuations. The Wattbike will still transmit cadence as long as the power stream is turned on.
