Legacy Smart Trainers Visible while Pairing over ANT+

Issue

When searching for a smart trainer over ANT+, you may see multiple options show up. Pairing to mismatched trainer names or the wrong selection will connect you over a legacy protocol that can cause issues ranging from a lag between effort and power to a disconnect in how resistance feels on hills.

Workaround

The most frequent issue we've seen has been related to the pairing mismatched trainer names. For example, pairing Tacx Pwr under "Power" and "Tacx Neo" under Controllable Trainer. To prevent issues, we recommend pairing to the same item in both categories, i.e. Tacx Neo under both Power and Controllable Trainer.

As we're still documenting this issue, the list below of the correct trainer selection to pair with is not complete, and we'll be adding to it as we learn more.

  • Tacx Trainers: Pair to Tacx "TrainerName" in both Power and Controllable Trainer
  • Wahoo Trainers: Pair to KICKR in both Power and Controllable Trainer
  • Elite Trainers: Pair to Elite ANT+/FE-C in both Power and Controllable Trainer
  • CycleOps: Pair to CycleOps "TrainerName" in both Power and Controllable Trainer
