# Calibrating Your Trainer in Zwift

Most smart trainers don't require a manual in-game calibration. Different trainers use different calibration methods. Before you perform a manual calibration, determine which method your trainer uses. Depending on your trainer, you may:

* not need to perform a manual calibration because it calibrates automatically while you ride.

* need to calibrate using your trainer manufacturer's app.

* be able to perform a manual calibration in Zwift.

If you're unsure which method your trainer uses, refer to your trainer manufacturer's documentation.

## Things to Know

* The calibration icon is only displayed for trainers that support manual in-game calibration.

## Auto Calibration

If your trainer supports auto calibration, you don't need to perform a manual calibration. Auto calibration occurs while you ride in Zwift when all of the following conditions are met:

* You've been riding for more than 1 minute.

* You reach a speed of at least 15 kph (10 mph).

* You then coast for at least 5 seconds.

* You're not riding in ERG mode.

If these conditions aren't met, automatic calibration won't occur until they're met during a ride.

## Performing a Manual In-Game Calibration Spindown

If your trainer supports manual in-game calibration, follow these steps:

1. Open Zwift and sign in.
2. Connect your trainer and complete a ride of at least 10 minutes to warm it up.

3. End your ride and return to the **PAIRED DEVICES** screen.

4. Look for the calibration icon next to the **POWER SOURCE** tile.

    1. If the calibration icon is available, select it.

    2. If the calibration icon isn't displayed, manual in-game calibration isn't available for your trainer. Refer to your trainer manufacturer's documentation to determine whether your trainer calibrates automatically or requires calibration using the manufacturer's app.

5. In the **CALIBRATE SPINDOWN** window, select **NEXT**.
6. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the calibration.
7. When the **CALIBRATE SPINDOWN** window displays **SUCCESS!**, select **OK**, or wait for the window to close automatically.
