# Zwifters Disappearing or Going off Course

If you've never seen other Zwifters or you see Zwifters/[RoboPacers](https://support.zwift.com/cycling-robopacers-SJ8YOts2F) disappearing or going the wrong way—or you do the same—it's likely caused by one of these reasons:

*   [Internet Connection Issues](#Internet_Connection_Issues)
*   [Multiple Zwift Sessions Open](#Multiple_Zwift_Sessions_Open)
*   [Zwift Server Issues](#_Server_Issues)

## Internet Connection Issues

If all the Zwifters on the course are disappearing, you're not seeing RoboPacers, or you go significantly off course mid-session, it's likely an issue related to your Internet connection. If Zwift disconnects from the internet all other Zwifters disappear and the server can't track your position. Here's some steps you can try to confirm the issue is internet related:

If only some Zwifters are disappearing, it's likely those users are having Internet issues on their end.

* Verify your Internet connection is working through a web browser by going to [Zwift.com](https://zwift.com/ "Zwift.com").
*   [Reset your router](#Internet).
*   [Complete a SPEEDTEST](#SPEEDTES)®.
* If you're on WiFi and only have a couple bars, try moving closer to your router or connecting an Ethernet cord from your router to your computer. Also, you may want to think about adding WiFi range extenders.

* If possible, try using your mobile phone as a hotspot for Internet.

    Using your phone as a hotspot will help confirm that the issue is home-internet related.

### Internet Reboot

If the issue seems to be home-internet related, we suggest rebooting your modem and WiFi router.

1. Unplug the power cable from your modem.
2. Unplug the power cable from your WiFi router.

    Leave the modem and WiFi router unplugged for about two minutes to clear persistent settings.

3. Plug the power cable back into your modem.

    Wait three to five minutes for your modem to completely boot.

4. Verify your 'Online' or Internet LED indicator shows that your modem is online.
5. Plug the power cable back into your WiFi router.

    Wait two to three minutes for your WiFi router to completely boot and begin broadcasting WiFi.

6. Once you confirm you have Internet access again, restart your Zwift device.

### SPEEDTEST®

To complete a SPEEDTEST®, follow these steps:

1.  Go to [www.SPEEDTEST.net](https://www.speedtest.net/ "www.SPEEDTEST.net").
2. Below the **GO** button, locate the **Change Server** button.
3. Select the **Change Server** button, and pick a server in Los Angeles.
4.  Select the **GO** button.

If your Ping time is higher than 50ms, it’s likely you'll experience performance issues.

### Advanced Troubleshooting

If you've never seen other Zwifters in-game, here's a few things to check:

* **VPN or Proxy Connection:** Turn your VPN or proxy connection off as it can block your connection to our servers.
* **Firewall:** You may need to make an exception for Zwift to connect, especially if you're behind an enterprise-strength firewall.
* **Router Connection:**Restart your router—and if that doesn't help, try plugging in directly to your modem.
    * Your modem and/or router could also have a firewall that's preventing you from connecting to our servers.
    * Your router firewall should allow all incoming/outgoing TCP traffic on remote ports 443 and 3025, and all incoming/outgoing UDP traffic on remote port 3024.

* **Permissions:** If you're on a work device, you may not have the necessary permissions, you may want to try using a personal computer.

## Multiple Zwift Sessions Open

Signing in to your Zwift account on a second device while you're Zwifting will cause other Zwifters and RoboPacers to disappear. You'll also lose all progress from your activity including: XP, distance, elevation, drops, achievements, or unlocked/purchased items. If you see the following warning when signing in to Zwift, double-check you don't already have an activity in progress on another device before selecting OK.

Logging in to Zwift on a second device will cause all progress from any activity on the first device to be lost.
