# Zwift Cog and Click FAQ

What is Zwift Cog and Click?

Zwift Cog and Click provide virtual shifting on compatible smart trainers. Zwift Cog replaces the cassette on your trainer with a single sprocket, while Zwift Click lets you shift gears wirelessly from your handlebars. Zwift Cog and Click also work with ROUVY. Which trainers are Zwift Cog and Click currently compatible with?

Zwift Cog and Click are compatible with Zwift Ready and Zwift Cog Compatible smart trainers.

Which bikes is Zwift Cog compatible with?

Zwift Cog is compatible with most road, mountain, commuter, gravel, cyclocross, hybrid, touring, and TT bikes. Belt-driven bikes and bikes with internal gear hubs, including Shimano Alfine and Nexus, aren't compatible with Zwift Cog.

Do all chain types work with Zwift Cog?

Zwift Cog works with most standard 8–13-speed chains, including the 1/2 x 3/32 chain used by Zwift Ride. It's also compatible with SRAM Flattop chains. Zwift Cog isn't compatible with belt drives or the Campagnolo Ekar 13-speed chain.

Are there different versions of Zwift Cog?

Yes. Zwift Cog v2 is the latest version of Zwift Cog. Compared to Zwift Cog v1, it includes built-in gear indexing to help optimize chain alignment and reduce noise. Zwift Cog v2 can be identified by its orange casing.

What's the difference between Zwift Cog v1 and Zwift Cog v2?

Zwift Cog v2 includes built-in gear indexing to help optimize chain alignment and reduce noise. Both versions provide the same virtual shifting experience.

How do I know which Zwift Cog I have?

You can identify your Zwift Cog by its color. Zwift Cog v1 is black, and Zwift Cog v2 is orange.

Can I convert my Zwift Cog v1 to Zwift Cog v2?

No. Zwift Cog v1 can't be converted to Zwift Cog v2. If you'd like to use Zwift Cog v2, you'll need to purchase a Zwift Cog and Click upgrade kit.

Do I need any tools to install Zwift Cog?

Installation requirements vary by product version. The current version of Zwift Cog includes the tool required for installation. Some older Zwift Cog products required a chain whip and lockring tool to remove an existing cassette from a trainer.

Does Zwift Ride have Zwift Cog v2?

Yes. Zwift Ride Smart Frame and Zwift Ride with KICKR CORE 2 include Zwift Cog v2.

Can I use the Zwift Click on its own?

Yes. Zwift Click can be used without Zwift Cog. For the best experience, Zwift recommends using Zwift Click and Zwift Cog together.

Can I buy the Zwift Click without the Zwift Cog?

No. Zwift Click and Zwift Cog are sold together in the Zwift Cog and Click upgrade kit.

Does Zwift Click need to be plugged in to work?

No. Zwift Click is powered by a CR2032 battery and connects wirelessly.

Is Zwift Click waterproof?

No. Zwift Click isn't designed to be submerged in water or exposed to excessive moisture, but it is sweat-resistant.
