# Using Your Zwift Ride Controller

Use your Zwift Ride handlebar controllers to control Zwift while you ride. This article provides an overview of the controller buttons and their functions when:

The first time you pair your Zwift Ride handlebar controllers with Zwift, a tutorial appears. You can view the tutorial again, along with an overview of your controllers, from the CONTROLS tab in the SETTINGS menu in-game.

## UI Navigation

Use the following buttons to navigate the Home Screen and in-game settings.

On the Home Screen, opens the prompt to exit the game. You may need to press B twice to open the prompt.

Left

Navigate left.

Up

Navigate up.

Right

Navigate right.

Down

Navigate down.

## Riding or Working Out in Zwift

The following buttons are available while riding, completing a workout, or participating in an event.

Select.

B

Go back.

Display the menu when in a ride or workout.

Y

Use a Power Up when riding.

Press and hold to skip a block in a workout.

Z

Return a Ride On.

Press and hold to give Ride On's to up to 5 riders within your vicinity.

Left

Navigate the Action Bar.

Cycle the Mini Map view.

Go left at an intersection.

Up

Show or hide the Action Bar.

Go straight at an intersection.

Right

Navigate the Action Bar.

Go right at an intersection.

Down

Press and hold to make a U-turn while free riding or in a workout.

Display the look-back camera in a Zwift Event.

LS1/LS2

Shift while riding.

Decrease workout intensity during a workout.

RS1/RS2

Shift while riding.

Increase workout intensity during a workout.

ZL

Push right to brake.

Push left to steer left.

ZR

Push left to brake.

Push right to steer right.

LB/RB

Use the configured LB/RB action.

## Things to Know

*   To control workout intensity with the side buttons, ERG must be turned on and you must be riding at your target wattage.
    
*   Braking isn't available during workouts.
    
*   You can adjust and turn off braking sensitivity in your in-game settings.
    
*   The tail light on your bike in-game will shine brighter when brakes are applied.
    
*   You can configure the drop buttons (LB/RB) in your in-game settings.
