# Using the Heads Up Display when Running

The Heads Up Display (HUD) shows your ride data and in-game info while you're running. For info on the HUD during workouts, see [Using the Heads Up Display when Working Out](https://support.zwift.com/en_us/using-the-heads-up-display-when-working-out-HkdGPmSJGl).

When running, the HUD includes the following:

1. [Menu](#MENU)

2. [MILE SPLITS](#Leaderboards_Mile_Splits)

3. [Left Display](#Left_Display)

## Menu

Access your profile, Garage, settings, and current activity summary from the Menu.

## Mile Splits

Shows your effort for your current sport—for example, relative to your FTP when cycling.

This area displays your mile splits through your run—a mile split is the time it takes you to complete each mile during your run. Each split will be displayed every quarter-mile so you can check to see if you are on pace. Below the mile splits, you'll see your calories burned, average pace, and your best mile time for your current session.

## Left Display

Shows your current effort and data reported by your connected devices.

This is also where you'll see alerts:

*   Connection issues (device disconnects).

* System alerts (ANT+, Bluetooth, or internet connection issues).

Alerts appear at the top of the display and disappear when resolved or after 60 seconds.

## Target

Select the target icon to choose a short-term fitness goal for your current run.

### Center Display

Shows route and run progress information.
