Tracking Outdoor Activities in Zwift FAQ
Curious about getting credit in Zwift for your outdoor rides? Check out this FAQ.
Q: Can I get credit in Zwift for completing rides outdoors?
A: Yes! With an active Zwift subscription, after connecting your Garmin® or Wahoo account to Zwift, cycling activities over 2 kilometers, or 1.25 miles, completed with a Garmin or Wahoo device are counted in Zwift—you'll even earn XP!
If you already have your accounts linked, please disconnect and reconnect to sync your activities—we want to make sure you want to send these rides to Zwift.
Q: This is great! Do I have to do anything to sync my Garmin or Wahoo activities?
A: You'll need to connect your Garmin or Wahoo account to Zwift. If you already have your accounts linked, please disconnect and reconnect to sync your activities—we want to make sure you want to send these rides to Zwift.
Q: Will all my outdoor rides sync to Zwift?
A: Once you connect or reconnect your Garmin or Wahoo account, you'll see activities for the past 90 days in your Fitness Tracker. However, you'll only earn XP on rides completed after you initiate the connection.
Activities with superhero-level wattage won’t be tracked in Zwift.
Q: Can other Zwifters see my outdoor rides in Zwift?
A: No. When you link your outdoor rides to Zwift only you can see your imported activities.
Q: What is the Zwift Fitness Tracker?
A: The Zwift Fitness Tracker is your ultimate training companion. It gives you an overview of your training week by week, helping you keep track of your activities and goals and providing you with a training score and status.
The Zwift Fitness Tracker is available only in the Zwift Companion (ZC) app.
Q: How much XP will I earn for my outdoor rides?
A: Activities over 2 kilometers, or 1.25 miles, earn 5 experience points (XP) per kilometer up to a maximum of 1,000 XP per day. We'll also round up your distance to the nearest kilometer so you get XP for your full effort. For example, if you ride 39.4 kilometers, we'll round that up to 40 kilometers, and you'll earn 200 XP.
Only rides you complete after connecting or reconnecting your accounts will earn XP.
Q: Do my outdoor rides count toward my ride streak?
A: Absolutely! Once you've connected, or reconnected, your Garmin or Wahoo account to Zwift, outdoor rides completed with your Garmin or Wahoo device count toward your ride streak.
Q: Can I sync activities from any other bike computers?
A: Currently, you can sync activities via Garmin and Wahoo devices; support for Hammerhead devices will be added this summer!
Q: I track rides on my Apple watch with Garmin/Wahoo, do those count?
A: While rides you track in Garmin or Wahoo that you've completed on a 3rd party device won't earn you XP in Zwift, you'll see them in your Zwift Fitness Tracker, and they'll contribute to your Fitness Tracker metrics.
Q: Will my Fitness Tracker metrics match those in other training apps?
A: Not necessarily. We use data from your profile in-game as well as our own unique formulas to calculate your metrics.
Pro Tip: Keep your profile in-game as accurate as possible for the best results.
Q: Do I need to connect a power meter during my outdoor rides?
A: To see your training zones for your outdoor rides represented in the Fitness Tracker, you'll need to ride with a connected power meter. If you don't have a power meter connected, your activity will still sync to Zwift, but your training zones won't be displayed—your activity will be gray rather than blocks of color.
Q: Does deleting an activity in Garmin or Wahoo remove it from Zwift?
A: No. Once your activities have synced to Zwift, you'll need to remove them from Zwift if you don't want them to be included in your Zwift Fitness Tracker.
Q: I'm seeing a duplicate activity reported in Zwift, what should I do?
A: No sweat. You can delete an activity using the ZC app.
Ride On.
