# Setting Up Your Zwift Ride Smart Frame

Are you ready to level up?! After setting up your [compatible trainer](https://support.zwift.com/zwift-ride-smart-frame-trainer-compatibility-ByuZ01ps0), follow these steps to add your Zwift Ride Smart Frame.

Check out our [set up videos](https://uk.zwift.com/pages/zwift-ride-setup) depending if you bought the [Zwift Ride with KICKR CORE](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8AUtw1kqaxY&t=1s) (Zwift Ride) or the [Zwift Ride Smart Frame](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qyJ1DHVFyiw) (Zwift Ride Frame Only).

If you bought the Zwift Ride with KICKR CORE and need help setting up your Wahoo KICKER CORE Zwift One, check out our [Wahoo KICKR CORE Zwift One Set Up](https://support.zwift.com/wahoo-kickr-core-zwift-one-set-up-and-troubleshooting-BkY_Cvq6) info.

## Confirming Trainer Setup

First up, you'll want to make sure you have enough space for your trainer, the Zwift Ride Smart Frame, the [device](https://support.zwift.com/supported-devices-to-run-zwift-H1Cj9QbeB) you'll be using to Zwift as well as room to get on and off your Zwift Ride Smart Frame comfortably. We recommend positioning your setup in the middle of a space at least 47" (1.20m) wide and no less than 60" (1.5m) long. You may need more space depending on your individual setup.

Before mounting your Zwift Ride Smart Frame on your trainer, confirm the following:

1. Your location has the following:

    * A strong wireless network signal.

    * Access to a wall outlet—you'll need to plug in the trainer and charge the handlebar controllers.

    *   Good ventilation.

    * Also, while they're not required, it's a good idea to have a fan available to cool your room, and a [training mat](https://us.zwift.com/collections/all/products/zwift-training-mat?variant=43118042808576) to protect your floor.

2. Your trainer is on a flat level surface and it's seated firmly and doesn't move.

3. You have a [Zwift Cog installed](https://support.zwift.com/en_us/installing-a-zwift-cog-S1EqREQa) on your trainer.

Do not mount your Zwift Ride Smart Frame on a trainer with a cassette.

4. Your Zwift Cog sprocket position is set to number 1.

Check out our article for info on [adjusting the Zwift Cog Sprocket](https://support.zwift.com/en_us/adjusting-your-zwift-cog-sprocket-BJxSF4VrZe).

5. You have the necessary thru axle adapters installed on your trainer.

    * The drive side thru axle adapter is installed.

    * The non-drive side thru axle adapter is installed.

If you have quick release adapters installed on your trainer you'll need to remove them and install thru axle adapters.

If you have a Zwift Hub and can't find your thru axle adapters—these came on the green instruction card—[reach out](https://support.zwift.com/contact/contact-us-HJH8N4RNQ) to us for replacements.

![Trainer Adapter Locations](https://content-cdn.zwift.com/support/EN/Hardware/Resources/Images/Trainer%20Adapters.png "Trainer Adapter Locations")

6. Your trainer's firmware is up-to-date.

You may need to download the trainer manufacturer's app from the [Google Play Store](https://play.google.com/store/apps?utm_source=na_Med&utm_medium=hasem&utm_content=Nov0520&utm_campaign=Evergreen&pcampaignid=MKT-EDR-na-us-1707532-Med-hasem-ap-Evergreen-Nov0520-Text_Search_BKWS-id_100470_%7CEXA%7CONSEM_kwid_43700023142507457_adgroupid_44836427956_keywordid_kwd-294868089100&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwuMC2BhA7EiwAmJKRrG0f3b0o4Y_bWs29SodKFf5islldI1MUuuWXlP1O7ue5iiKeJjCR1xoCZvsQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds) or the [iOS App Store](https://www.apple.com/app-store/) to update your trainer's firmware.

## Installing a Riser Foot

If you need to install one of the included riser feet on your Zwift Ride Smart Frame, you'll do that now. You can check if you need to install a riser foot in our [Zwift Ride Smart Frame trainer compatibility](https://support.zwift.com/zwift-ride-smart-frame-trainer-compatibility-ByuZ01ps0) article. To install a riser foot, follow these steps:

If you bought the Zwift Ride with KICKR CORE, jump ahead to [mount your Zwift Ride on the trainer](#Mounting_Your_Zwift_Ride_on_the_Trainer). Zwift Ride riser feet are not included or required with the Wahoo KICKR CORE Zwift One.

1. Open the Zwift Ride Smart Frame boxes and remove all of the items from inside.

The smaller Zwift Ride branded box notes "START HERE" on the top. We recommend starting with that box, but, don't worry if you've opened something else first.

2. Carefully lay your Zwift Ride Smart Frame on its side.

3. Using your frame key unscrew both bolts from the bottom of the front foot.

![Riser Foot Bolts](https://content-cdn.zwift.com/support/EN/Hardware/Resources/Images/Riser%20Foot%20Screws.png "Riser Foot Bolts")

4. Remove the bolts and the foot from the Zwift Ride Smart Frame.

Keep the bolts and washers safe, if you're installing a small riser foot, you'll need them again.

5. Insert the appropriate sized riser foot for your trainer.

    * If you're installing the small riser foot, insert the bolts and washers you previously removed.

6. Using your frame key, tighten the bolts.

## Mounting Your Zwift Ride Smart Frame on the Trainer

Follow these steps to mount your Zwift Ride Smart Frame on your trainer:

Do not mount your Zwift Ride Smart Frame on a trainer with a cassette.

The smaller Zwift Ride branded box notes "START HERE" on the top. We recommend starting with that box, but, don't worry if you've opened something else first.

2. Position the rear dropouts of the Zwift Ride Smart Frame onto the adapters.

Check that your rear dropouts are properly seated on the adapters.

    2. Move the chain over and set it on the Zwift Cog.

    3. Pull the chain tensioner back up to re-tension the chain.

Your Zwift Ride Smart Frame comes with pedals, but you can [install your own](https://support.zwift.com/en_us/adjusting-your-zwift-ride-SyUBRM8A) if you prefer.

    1. Match the pedal labeled R with the right crank, labeled R.
