# Running FAQ

**Q:** How much does it cost to run on Zwift?

A: [Running](https://support.zwift.com/running-faq-BJuPPqzwH) on Zwift is currently free! If you have a Wahoo KICKR RUN and want to use our [automatic incline control](https://support.zwift.com/treadmill-incline-control-rkw81bi0) feature, you'll need a paid subscription—or to be on a free trial.

**Q:** Why do I need a subscription to use the automatic incline control feature?

A: Automatic incline control supports the advanced, interactive elements of Zwift. Such features require substantial ongoing development and updates to ensure continuous improvement and reliable user experiences, all of this is funded by subscription fees.

**Q:** Will Zwift control my treadmill?

A: If you have a paid Zwift subscription—or you're on a free trial—and you have a Wahoo KICKR RUN, your treadmill can talk to Zwift and automatically adjust your incline as you run in Zwift! Otherwise, you can manually change your incline and your speed at your discretion.

**Q:** How do workouts work?

A: As you go through intervals in Zwift—you’ll see suggested paces and will need to adjust your treadmill speed accordingly.

**Q:** Can I create my own run workout?

A: Currently, you cannot create your own running workout in-game. However, if you have [TrainingPeaks](https://support.zwift.com/en_us/completing-third-party-workouts-in-zwift-HkQF6L_NS) connected to your Zwift account then your workouts will appear in Zwift.

**Q:** How do I enter my pace?

A: You can enter your pace for 1mile, 5k, 10k, half marathon, and marathon times in your [Public Profile](https://support.zwift.com/en_us/updating-your-public-profile-ByLuqSP2K) in-game.

**Q:** What if I don’t know my pace?

A: No worries, when you start running on Zwift we'll figure out your pace and store it in your profile.

**Q:** What does ADD A TARGET do?

A: Select this and you can choose to add a target goal for your current run. There are pre-selected targets, but you can also create your own.

**Q:** My running speed doesn't match my treadmill speed.

A: If you notice your speed is not matching your treadmill speed, we suggest [calibrating your footpod](https://support.zwift.com/en_us/calibrating-your-footpod-SJlrnnfwH). You can do this on your device’s app, but be sure to fully exit out of the app before getting on Zwift.

**Q:** Why are my calories on my Zwift dashboard not matching the calories on my Strava reports?

A: The calories reported on Zwift are calculations based on a specific algorithm. Strava and other fitness apps will calculate this with their own algorithms.

**Q:** Why can't Zwift find my Stryd on the pairing screen?

A: Ensure that you do not have your Stryd paired to any other devices or apps. Signals can be hijacked away from Zwift. If you're still not seeing the Stryd, start running to activate and wake up the sensor.

**Q:** How do I increase my running level and what's the max?

A: The more you run, the more points you accumulate, and the higher your level. The current max level is 30.

See you on the road.
