# Runn™

The Runn™ is an optical sensor that attaches to your existing treadmill. With the Runn installed you don't need a supported BLE enabled treadmill or a footpod to run on Zwift. Also, the Runn is a great way to track your cadence in game. The Runn connects to Zwift via ANT+ or BLE, and is also rechargeable via an included USB cable, so there’s no need to worry about external batteries. Before you get started with your Runn, you'll need to install it on your treadmill. If you've already installed it and just need to calibrate, we've got you covered as well. When you’re ready to begin, follow the steps below:

## Required Items

Prior to installing your Runn—you're going to need the following:

*   Runn treadmill sensor

    The Runn doesn't come charged. If you don't plan on leaving it plugged in while you’re using it—make sure it’s fully charged before you set it up.

*   Runn treadmill mounting base
*   Command™ adhesive strips
*   Belt sensor stickers
*   A treadmill

## Installing your Runn

Now that you have all the things you need and you’re Runn is plugged in and charging, follow these steps:

1. Lightly mount the Runn onto the treadmill 4 to 6 inches from the back of the treadmill on either side using the included Command adhesive strips.

    * Make sure the speed sensor is .25 to .5 inches away from the treadmill belt.
2. Place 3 to 4 of the included belt sensor stickers horizontally on the treadmill belt at least 12 inches apart in line with the Runn on either side of the device.

    The belt sensor stickers are used to measure the elapsed time it takes each sticker to pass under the Runn sensors. Providing more stickers will provide more data to the Runn.

3. Start the treadmill and set it to 5 mph and 0% incline.
4. Press the white button on the side of the Runn twice to turn it on.

    If your Runn is plugged in, the middle LED will illuminate solid.

    If you're run is operating on battery power, the farthest right LED will illuminate solid.

5. Press the white button on the side of the Runn once.

    If your Runn is plugged in, the middle LED will remain illuminated solid and the left and right LED will alternate each time the belt sensor sticker goes under the Runn.

    If your Runn is operating on battery power, the left and right LED will alternate each time the belt sensor sticker goes under the Runn.

6. If the LED doesn't illuminate when the belt sensor strip passes under the Runn—complete these steps:
    1. Turn off the treadmill and wait for it to come to a complete stop.
    2. Add additional belt sensor stickers on the treadmill so they pass under the Runn treadmill speed sensor.
    3. Start the treadmill and set it to 5 mph and 0% incline.
7. Firmly press the Runn base down on the Command strips.
8. If it's your first time using the Runn, follow the below steps to [calibrate](#Calibrat) it.

## Calibrating your Runn

If your speed is off in Zwift or it’s your first time using your Runn—try calibrating it. Calibration is quick and easy, just follow these steps:

1. Confirm there are at least 3 to 4 belt sensor stickers positioned horizontally on the treadmill at least 12 inches apart on the belt in line with the Runn on either side of the device.

    The belt sensor stickers are used to measure the amount of time between passes under the Runn device. If you're traveling at a slower speed, having more stickers will help with accuracy.

2. Start the treadmill and set it to 5 mph and 0% incline.
3. Double tap the white button on the Runn.

    If your Runn is plugged in, the middle LED will illuminate solid.

    If you're run is operating on battery power, the farthest right LED will illuminate solid.

4. Tap the white button one more time on the Runn.

5. Press and hold the white button the back of the Runn for 6 seconds and release.

    If your Runn is plugged in when the calibration process starts, the left and right LEDs will reverse their sequence. Once calibration is complete, the middle LED and farthest right LED will illuminate solid.

    If your Runn is operating on battery power when the calibration process starts, the left and right LEDs will reverse their sequence. Once calibration is complete, the farthest right LED will illuminate solid.

6. [Connect your Runn to Zwift](https://support.zwift.com/en_us/connecting-your-devices-for-running-ry2NdSw9B)!

## Turning your Runn On

To turn your Runn on, pair it to Zwift. It's that simple! If this is your first time using your Runn, or you feel you’re speed in Zwift is inaccurate, it’s a good idea to calibrate it. To calibrate your Runn, follow the steps above.

## Turning your Runn Off

The Runn will automatically turn off after a couple minutes of inactivity, but if you want to manually turn off, complete these steps:

1.  Turn off the treadmill.
2. Double tap the white button on the Runn.

## Troubleshooting your Runn

If things aren’t working like you’d expect, try resetting the Runn—by completing these steps:

1. Hold in the white button on the Runn for about 10 seconds until the 3 LEDs start blinking in a left to right sequence.
2.  Release the white button.

    The lights will flash in a left to right pattern until the button's released.

3. Complete the calibration process depending on if you are charging or using battery.
