# Zwift Racing Score FAQ

What is Racing Score?

Racing Score is a ranking system that reflects your current fitness and racing performance on a 1–1000 scale, with your score increasing as you improve. It determines which race category you’re placed in to help keep racing competitive and fair.

Where can I see my Racing Score?

You can see your Racing Score in-game, in the Zwift Companion app, at [zwift.com/racing/me](http://zwift.com/racing/me), and on ZwiftPower. Other Zwifters can also see your score in race results, the Zwift Companion app, and on ZwiftPower.

How many Racing Score categories are there?

There are five standard Racing Score categories, each defined by a score range within a 1-650 or 1-725 scale. Some advanced or high-level events may use additional categories, and event organizers can also define custom ranges.

Why does the scale alternate?

The scale alternates between a maximum of 650 and 725 to allow Zwifters to enjoy different racing experiences by racing nearer the top or bottom of a category range.

What are advanced or high-level Racing Score events?

These are events that include categories above the standard Racing Score ranges. They’re designed for Zwifters with higher Racing Scores and offer more competitive race formats.

## How Your Racing Score is Calculated

How is my Racing Score calculated?

Your score starts with a seed score based on your recent Zwift activity, then updates after each ranked race. It changes based on your finishing position, field strength, field size, and any podium bonus, and won’t drop below your floor value. Your score can also increase if you set new power bests in any Zwift activity, or decrease over time as older efforts are no longer included. Check out our [How is My Racing Score Calculated](https://support.zwift.com/en_us/how-your-zwift-racing-score-is-calculated-Skzjiybyzx) article for more info.

Do personal best efforts affect my Racing Score?

Yes. New power bests can immediately raise your score if they exceed your current value.

Do my power metrics affect my Racing Score?

Yes. Race results primarily determine your score, but power data from all Zwift activities contribute to your seed score and floor value.

What is a Racing Score floor?

Your floor is the lowest value your score can drop to, based on your recent power data. It updates over time as your fitness changes.

Can my Racing Score decrease?

Yes. Your score can drop based on race results or over time as older results and efforts are no longer included. It will never fall below your floor value.

What counts as “strength of field”?

Strength of field refers to the Racing Scores of the other Zwifters in your race. Racing against stronger competitors typically has a greater impact on your score.

Do outdoor rides affect my Racing Score?

No. Only activities completed in Zwift count toward your Racing Score.

## Understanding Your Racing Score

Why do I see “--” instead of a Racing Score?

This means there isn’t enough recent activity to calculate your score. Complete at least one activity longer than 10 minutes to generate a score.

How can I improve the accuracy of my initial Racing Score?

Your score becomes more accurate as you race more. Early on, doing efforts longer than 10 minutes with a mix of steady and high-intensity riding helps establish your score.

Why doesn’t my Racing Score match my last race result?

Your Racing Score can change outside of races. Setting a new power best during a free ride or workout may increase your score. It can also decrease over time as older race results and power bests are no longer included.

I came back to Zwift after a break, and my score seems wrong. Why?

Your Racing Score is based on recent activity. Older results and efforts aren't included in the calculation, which can change your score. Completing more activities and races will stabilize your score.

Why did my Racing Score go down even though I finished well?

Your score depends on finishing position, field strength, and recent activity. It may decrease if you race a weaker field or if stronger past results are no longer included.

What do the arrows in race results mean?

They show whether your score increased or decreased. An arrow with a line under it indicates whether your floor value increased or decreased after the race.

What does the +/- value in race results show?

It shows how much your Racing Score changed from that race.

Does Racing Score relate to A–D pace groups?

No. Racing Score and pace groups are separate systems with no direct correlation.

Does ZwiftPower affect my Racing Score?

No. ZwiftPower rankings and results don’t influence your Racing Score.

Can I see my Racing Score history over time?

Yes, you can view your score history at [zwift.com/racing/me](http://zwift.com/racing/me).

How long after a race does my Racing Score update?

Your Racing Score typically updates shortly after you finish a race.

## Racing Score in Events

What is a ranked race?

A ranked race is one where your result affects your Racing Score. In these races, your score updates based on your finishing position and the strength of the field.

Are all races scored?

No. Some events, like team time trials or certain league formats, don’t affect Racing Score.

How does Racing Score work with Category Enforcement?

Category Enforcement is a feature that prevents you from joining a race category that’s too easy for you. In most events, you can enter a category at or above your current Racing Score, but not below it. Some events use your 30-Day Max Score instead.

What is 30-Day Max Score?

Your 30-Day Max Score is the highest Racing Score you’ve had in the past 30 days. When an event uses this for Category Enforcement, you are unable to enter a lower category until 30 days have passed from your highest score.

Do all events use the same Racing Score categories?

Most Zwift events use five categories, but some may use additional categories or custom ranges.

Do any events still use A–D categories?

Most events use Racing Score, but some private events may still use A–D categories.

Am I penalized for quitting a race early?

No. Leaving a race early doesn’t affect your Racing Score.

Am I penalized for connection issues or crashes?

No. Disconnections or unexpected game closures don’t impact your score.
