# Preparing for a Cycling Event

Nothing is more fun than a Zwift event! Check out this article for some helpful tips to prepare for event day:

* Make sure you're using the most recent version of the [Zwift app](http://zwift.com/download).

You must be using the latest version of Zwift to see the event kit on your avatar.

* Double check you're not logged in to the game on multiple devices.

* Make sure you have enough battery life on your device for the event, or are plugged into a power source.

* For longer events, make sure you have everything you need for a long Zwift session.

Some items Zwifters find helpful is extra water, food, and a good fan.

* Check to see if late join has been enabled.

If late join is enabled, you can join the event up to 30 minutes after the start time.

* Research the course to know which frame and wheels to select from your Garage before the event begins.

You can change your frame and wheels during the event, but you must come to a complete stop before you can do so.

* If you're using a device that requires [calibration](https://support.zwift.com/en_us/performing-a-calibration-spindown-ByUaXPoi9), make sure to allow time to complete this process—if necessary—before the event begins.

* Get to the event pen at least 15 minutes early, even if you don’t need that much warm-up time.

Joining early puts you in the front section of the pen.

* To ensure you achieve any route badges or event rewards, be certain to ride the entire distance of each stage until you see the in-game summary showing your stats.

* If you're entering a race, check out our [Zwift Competition and Racing Guide](https://support.zwift.com/en_us/zwift-racing-guide-HJ7MuPp3U) for racing specific tips.

Ride On.
