# Payment Troubleshooting

If you receive an error message when entering your membership payment information, review the checks below. Payment errors can occur for several reasons related to your payment details, payment method, or billing information.

## Resolution

Verify the following:

* All payment info is entered correctly and doesn't contain any typos.

* The billing address matches the billing address associated with your payment method.

* Your payment method is valid and active.

* Your payment method has sufficient funds to cover the membership cost.

* Your payment method supports recurring subscription payments. Some payment methods, including certain gift cards, don't support recurring transactions.

* Your payment method supports transactions in the billed through the United States. Contact your bank or payment provider to confirm support if needed.

* Your payment method was issued in, and you're currently located in, a country supported by the applicable payment processor:

    * **Credit Card, Debit Card, PayPal, or Apple Pay®:** Processed through Braintree/PayPal. See [PayPal's article](http://ia Braintree/PayPal.) for more info.

    * **Direct Debit:** Processed through GoCardless. See [GoCardless' article](https://gocardless.com/en-us/faq/merchants/international-payments/#:~:text=Where can my customers be based%3F) for more info.

* You haven't made multiple payment attempts in a short period. This may trigger a temporary security block. If you've made multiple attempts, wait a few business days before trying again.

## AMEX Cardholders

If you're using an American Express (AMEX®) card and your Zwift profile name contains special characters, remove the special characters from your profile name and try the payment again. You can add the characters back after the payment is completed.

## Payments With Cards Issued in India

If your payment card was issued by a bank located in India, recurring payment regulations may affect your membership payment. See this [Reserve Bank of India notification](https://www.rbi.org.in/Scripts/NotificationUser.aspx?Id=12051&Mode=0) for more info.

If your payment is affected by your bank's recurring payment requirements, you'll need to contact your bank for assistance. Zwift can't enable or approve these payments on your behalf.

## Using Your Apple Account Balance

You may not be able to pay for your Zwift membership using Apple Pay® if you only have an Apple® Account balance and don't have another payment method on file. For some recurring charges, Apple requires another payment method to be on file and used to start the subscription.

For more information, see [Apple Support](https://support.apple.com/en-us/118244).

## Alternative Payment Options

If you're unable to use one of the payment methods above, you can also subscribe through the Apple® App Store®.
