# Not Moving In-Game

If you find that your avatar isn't moving in-game, it's likely for one of the following reasons:

 

 

Problem

Resolution/Description

Brakes Engaged

If you have a Zwift controller (Zwift Ride or Zwift Play) connected, your brakes may be engaged.

The tail light on your bike in-game will shine brighter when brakes are applied.

You can disable brake sensitivity in your [in-game settings](https://support.zwift.com/en_us/in-game-settings-for-cycling-Hy_tSDDnt).

No Membership

If you previously canceled your membership, you'll need to [resume your membership](https://support.zwift.com/resuming-your-membership-Hy1YCYj2Y) to ride in Zwift.

Free Trial has Expired

If you're Zwifting on a [free trial](https://support.zwift.com/en_us/free-trial-faq-S1gAkG6PI), it may have expired.

Paused Membership

If you've paused your membership, you'll need to [resume](https://support.zwift.com/en_us/pausing-and-resuming-your-membership-rkXfNfxT) it to ride in Zwift.

Your Signal is Receiving Interference

If your hardware is unable to send data to Zwift, then you won't move in-game.

Using ANT+ Sensors Without a USB2 ANT+ Dongle

If you're trying to connect with ANT+ sensors and you see a No ANT+ dongle found message when you start Zwift, it could mean your ANT+ dongle is not the correct model. For the best results, we suggest picking up a new [dongle](https://zwift.com/shop/product/ant-bundle "dongle").

Trainer not Selected After Pairing Speed Sensor

If you're using a speed sensor, you'll need to select the trainer you're using from the in-game settings.

Speed Sensor isn't Set Up Properly

If you're using a magnet-based speed sensor—but the two aren't set up in proper alignment—you can spin without your efforts actually registering.

Check that the magnet and sensor are facing each other and close enough together that when you spin the wheel by hand, you get a reading on the PAIRED DEVICES screen.

You should also make sure that nothing changes when you put your bike under load. We've heard of cases where putting out a big effort causes the sensors to go out of alignment due to the trainer, bike frame, or tire shifting positions.

Speed Sensor Battery is Dead

If you're using a speed sensor, try replacing the batteries. Zwift needs to send signals several times a second, so a battery can still seem functional on other devices like a bike computer, but be at too low of a level for Zwift.
