# Issues with Zwift Companion App

There's a few different reasons Zwift and the Zwift Companion (ZC) app won't connect, check out the following table for info on resolving most of the connection issues we see:

Cause of Connection Issue

Resolution

Wireless Network

Check the device you're running Zwift on and the device you're running the ZC app on are on the same network—including the same 2.4 GHz/5 GHz band.

You'll still be able to pair an Ethernet-connected device if it's going through the same router that's transmitting your wireless signal.

Router

Try rebooting your wireless network router.

Different Log In Credentials

Ensure you're logging in to Zwift and the ZC app with the same Zwift account.

Device Permissions

If you're running Zwift on an iOS® mobile device or macOS® 15.0 or later, you must grant Zwift Local Network permissions and ensure Local Network is turned on to allow Zwift to pair and communicate with the ZC app.

Follow Apple®'s guides to confirm Local Network access on [iOS](https://support.apple.com/en-us/102229) and [macOS](https://support.apple.com/guide/mac-help/control-access-to-your-local-network-on-mac-mchla4f49138/mac).

If access is already granted, try turning the permission off and then on again.

After an OS update, you may need to confirm that this permission is still enabled.

It's not possible to use the ZC app as a bridge when running Zwift on a mobile device.

Bad Data

Try force closing the ZC app:

*   [iOS](https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201330 "iOS")

Connecting Over Mobile Data

Follow these steps to ensure the device you're running the ZC app on isn't connecting via mobile data rather than your wireless network:

1. Make sure the ZC app is closed.

2. Do one of the following on your mobile device:

    *   Turn off mobile data.

    *   Turn on Airplane mode.

3. Connect to your wireless network.

4. Launch the ZC app.

5. Launch Zwift on a separate device.

Outdated App Version

Visit the [Play Store](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.zwift.android.prod&hl=en_US "Play Store") or [App Store](https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/zwift-companion/id934083691?mt=8 "iTunes") on your device to make sure that you have the newest version installed.

Ubiquiti/Unifi Networks

If your network is using Ubiquiti/Unifi, try excluding the PC running Zwift from the Multicast/Broadcast Filtering by completing these steps:

1. Go to **Wireless Networks**.

2. Select **Edit**.

3. Select **Extended Settings**.

4. Select **Multicast & Broadcast Filter**.

5. Select **Excluded Devices**.

VPN/Proxy/Firewall

Disable or make exceptions for Zwift as appropriate.

* ZC listens on TCP port 21587 and 21588. Your router firewall should allow all incoming/outgoing TCP traffic on remote ports 443 and 3025, and all incoming/outgoing UDP traffic on remote port 3024.

* If you have port blocking enabled, you may need to either turn it off, or port forward to those specific ports, for ZC to work properly.

## Connection Dropping

If you're using the ZC app as a bridge, you can check the status of the BLE connections by selecting the BLE icon on the ZC app.

## Paired Devices Screen Bluetooth icons[\_\_](#Pairing)

The PAIRED DEVICES screen in-game displays BLE icons that change based on connection status:

Icon Description

Status Explanation

Resolution and/or Possible Explanations

Dimly-lit phone with hazard icon on pairing screen.

Dimly-lit phone with hazard icon on Home screen on the ZC app.

Your phone is no longer paired.

* If you notice other Zwifters disappearing, your internet connection may be slow or unstable.
* If you don't see Zwifters disappearing, try re-pairing your ZC app.

White phone icon with hazard icon on pairing screen and ZC shows the DASHBOARD screen.

Your phone is paired, but BLE is blocked.

* Turn on BLE on your phone.
* Double-check that Battery Saver, Bluetooth, and Screen Lock settings aren't blocking your BLE. connection.

Pulsating phone icon on pairing screen and ZC shows the DASHBOARD screen.

Your phone is connected with the game and ready for BLE connections.

If you have this icon on your pairing screen, but you're seeing your BLE signal drop out, it's likely a problem with your sensors or the BLE signal.

* There's a low battery in one of your devices. If you haven't replaced it recently, we recommend trying that first. Even if it's strong enough to be picked up by other apps, the battery may be preventing it from transmitting frequently enough for Zwift.
* Reduce wireless interference nearby as this could affect both your WiFi and BLE signal.
* Make sure that you're not seeing Zwifters disappearing as this indicates Internet drops.

Ride On.
