# Installing Adjustable Crank Arms on Your Zwift Ride

Check out the below steps to install adjustable crank arms on your Zwift Ride.

## Required Tools/Equipment

*   Small (1.5mm) flathead screwdriver or pick/hook.
*   8mm hex key.
*   Crank puller.
*   Wrench to fit crank puller.
*   Torque wrench (optional).

## Removing the Crank Arm

Follow these steps to remove the crank arms, starting with the right.

1.  If you'll be using the same pedals, [remove the pedals](https://support.zwift.com/installing-new-pedals-on-your-zwift-ride-ryCRZGUC) from the crank arms.
    
2.  Insert the screwdriver into the gap between the crank arm cap and the crank arm and gently pry the crank arm cap away from the crank arm to fully remove it.

3.  While holding the crank arm still, insert the hex key into the crank bolt and turn it counterclockwise to remove the bolt.

4.  Screw the crank puller on to the crank and hand tighten.
    
    Ensure crank puller threads are fully engaged.

5.  While holding the crank arm still, hand tighten the center bolt on the crank puller.
    
6.  While holding the crank arm still, use the wrench to turn the center bolt further until the crank is removed.

7.  Repeat these steps for the left crank arm.
    

## Installing the Adjustable Crank Arm

Follow these steps to install the adjustable crank arms, starting with the right.

1.  Remove the right-hand crank arm from the box.
    
    The right-hand crank arm is identified with an "R" on the back and is the top crank in the box.
    
2.  Place the right-hand crank onto the bottom bracket axle.

3.  Insert the provided crank bolt through the right crank, and while holding the crank arm still, tighten it with the hex key.
    
    If you have a torque wrench, tighten the crank bolt to 45Nm.

4.  Lining up the largest tab, install either the original or the new crank arm cap into position over the crank bolt.

5.  Repeat these steps for the left crank arm, ensuring the two crank arms are horizontally aligned.
