# Installing a Cassette on Your Zwift Hub

Follow these instructions to install a cassette to your Zwift Hub. Check out our instructions if you need to first [remove an installed cassette](https://support.zwift.com/en_us/removing-a-cassette-from-your-zwift-hub-BkBX2TIki).

## Difficulty Rating

[![Difficulty Rating 2/3](https://zwiftdmz-marcom-us-east.s3.us-east-1.amazonaws.com/support/EN/Hardware/Resources/Images/Difficulty Level 2-3.png "Middle of the Road - 2/3")](https://support.zwift.com/en_us/troubleshooting-difficulty-rating-rygrkYkhyl "Middle of the Road 2/3")

## Required Tools/Equipment

*   Lock ring bit tool.

    There are several different lock ring bit tools you can use—make sure you have a lock ring bit; lock ring bit wrench; or an all in one tool that's Shimano/SRAM compatible.

    If your bike uses a quick release, make sure your lock ring bit tool has a 5 mm guide pin or no pin. Lock ring bit tools with 12 mm guide pins are intended for use with thru-axles and will not fit through the smaller quick release hole.

*   Torque wrench (optional).

## Installing a Cassette

Now that you have your tools and the cassette you want to install, follow these steps:

Don't feel like installing the cassette yourself? Your local bike shop should be able to help.

1. If you haven't already, disconnect the power supply from the electrical port on the Zwift Hub.

    Make sure your Zwift Hub is unplugged from the power supply before continuing.

2. If you're riding with a 10 speed cassette or less, place the spacer included with the Zwift Hub on the freehub body.

    If you're installing an 8, 9, or 10 speed cassette, you'll need to install the provided spacer. You don't need a spacer with an 11 or 12 speed cassette.

3. Place the cassette on the freehub body by performing the following:
    1. Locate the largest notch on the cassette.
    2. Locate the largest gap on the freehub body.
    3. Line up the largest notch on the cassette with the largest gap on the freehub body.
    4. Slide the cassette on until it is flush with the trainer.
4. Once the cassette is on, place the lock ring bit tool into the cassette lock ring.
5. While holding the pulley wheel, turn the lock ring bit tool clockwise to tighten the cassette lock ring.

    Be careful to not cross the threads when screwing the lock ring back onto the freehub body—as this can cause serious damage.

    If you're using a torque wrench, tighten to 40Nm.

6. Check out our article for info on [mounting your bike](https://support.zwift.com/en_us/mounting-your-bike-on-the-zwift-hub-Hk5yTpIko) on the trainer.

Ride On.
