# In-Game Settings for Cycling

You can adjust a range of in-game settings in Zwift. These settings are available from the Home Screen or during a ride, and changes sync across your devices. Follow the steps below to update your settings or review the sections to learn what each setting does.

## Adjusting Your In-Game Settings

1.  Open Settings:
    
    *   From the Home Screen, select your initials, then select My **settings**.

    *   During a ride, select **Menu**, then **Settings**.

2.  Select a category:
    
    *   **Preferences:** General gameplay and experience settings.
        
    *   **Audio & Video:** Sound, display, and visual effects settings.
        
    *   **HUD:**  Customize what metrics and information appear on screen.
        
    *   **Hardware:** Configure trainers, controllers, and input behavior.
        
    *   **Controls:** View connected devices (Zwift Ride, Zwift Play, Zwift Click) and access controller tutorials.
        
    *   **Permissions:** Manage data consent settings.
        
    *   **About:** To view your game version and build number.
        
3.  Select **OK** to save your changes and continue.

## Preferences

 

Setting

Description

Preferred Language

Set your preferred language.

Leaderboards

Leaderboards appear on the left side of your HUD unless Ride Stats or Splits are selected in the same display area. When riding a segment, the leaderboard shows rankings for that segment. Toggle between Always and Auto.

Measurements

Display measurements in Imperial or Metric units.

Screenshot Uploading

Control whether screenshots are saved in Zwift and shared to any linked third-party platforms (if connected). Choose Always, Only My Shots, or Never.

Show Group-Chat

Show or hide messages from nearby Zwifters in the group chat.

Laptop Battery Saver

Adjust battery usage with Max, Med, or Min Battery Saver.

Video Screenshots

Enable or disable video capture. This feature may not be available on all devices.

Language Filter

Turn profanity filtering in chat On or Off.

Workout Pain Effect

Simulates fatigue effects on screen as effort increases. This setting only appears during a workout.

Rider Highlighting

Highlight your avatar and select nearby riders in a pack.

Route HoloReplay

Show a HoloReplay of your personal best, most recent effort, or both for a route. Available when you have a recorded effort for that route. You can also turn this feature off.

Segment HoloReplay

Show a HoloReplay of your personal best, most recent effort, or both for timed segments. Available when you have a recorded segment effort. You can also turn this feature off.

Leaderboard HoloReplay

Show other Zwifters’ HoloReplays on routes with leaderboards.

HoloReplay Privacy

Set your HoloReplay visibility to Public or Private.

## Audio & Video

Description

Title Music

Turn the background music On or Off.

Game Sound Volume

Adjust menu and notification sound volume.

3D World Volume

Adjust environmental and riding sound volume.

Streak Flair

Show or hide your Streak Flair.

Screen Shake Effect

Turn the screen shake effect On or Off.

Game Resolution

Adjust in-game resolution.

Screen Mode

Choose Full Screen or Windowed mode.

Description

Left Display Slot 1 - 4

Choose which metric to display in each left-side HUD slot. Available metrics may vary depending on your connected devices. Options include:

*   Cadence (RPM)
    
*   Average Power (AVG)
    
*   Heart Rate (BPM)
    
*   Energy Burned (CAL)
    
*   Power to Weight (W/KG)
    
*   Kilojoules (KJ)
    
*   Stress Points (SP)
    
*   Core Temperature (DEG)
    
*   Heat Strain Index (HSI)
    
*   Weighted Power (WP)
    
*   Power Balance (L/R)
    
*   Average W/KG
    
*   Average Speed

Elevation Display Sensitivity

Control when the Dynamic Elevation Display appears.

Choose which metrics appear in Ride Stats. Available metrics may vary depending on your connected devices. Options include:

## Hardware

 

Setting

Description

Trainer Difficulty

Adjust how strongly in-game gradients affect resistance. Only available when a controllable trainer is connected.

Power Estimation Mode

Select how estimated power is calculated for supported trainers (Classic or zPower).

Power Display

Choose how your power output is displayed—smoothed (3-second average) or real-time.

Tire Size

Select the value that matches the size printed on your rear tire.

Braking Sensitivity

Adjust braking response or turn it off. Only available when Zwift Play or Zwift Ride is paired.

Controller Haptic

Enable or disable controller vibration for Zwift Play or Zwift Ride.

Tacx Neo Road Feel

Turn Road Feel On or Off when using a Tacx Neo trainer.

Intersection Controls

Enable or disable steering-based route selection at intersections when using a supported steering device.

Virtual Shifting

Enable or disable virtual shifting for Zwift Click or Zwift Play.

Shift Style

Configure button behavior for virtual shifting with Zwift Ride or Zwift Click

Gear Range

Adjust the number and range of virtual gears for Zwift Ride

Drop Buttons

Customize the function of the lower buttons on Zwift Ride handlebars.
