HoloReplay FAQ

Have questions about HoloReplay? You’re in the right place!

Q: What is HoloReplay?

A: The HoloReplay is a visual representation of your fastest pace within the past 90 days displayed for either a segment or an entire route completion during a free ride or pacer group ride. It is a mirror of a segment where you obtained your personal best, or your most recent time, and allows you the opportunity to compete against your previous self. You will have the option to choose between 4 different settings:

  • Personal Best: Any PR set during a freeride or Pacer Group ride for a 90-day rolling period

  • Most Recent: This will spawn the HoloReplay from the most recent completion of a segment or route. This is not limited to personal best times—it is literally the last time you completed this segment in freeride mode.

  • Both: This will allow the PR and most recent completion to spawn. This means you can have up to 4 HoloReplays active at once!

  • Off: This will not spawn the HoloReplay.

If you went faster in one part of the segment or route and slower in another, your HoloReplay will do the same. It will also follow your turns and changes of position on the road. If you’re using steering and make a few swerves, that will also appear in the game.

More details?

  • You can also choose if you want to view HoloReplays on only routes, only segments, or both routes and segments.

  • HoloReplays won’t use a PR or recent completion recorded in a group workout or Meetup.

  • Your PR has to have taken place in the last 90 days.

  • You can also choose your most recent completion, even if it isn’t the fastest of the last 90 days.

  • Solo workouts are not free rides.

Q: What is a segment?

A: There are official timed segments in Zwift, a segment might be for a sprint, a climb, or a loop, and each has its own leaderboard.

Q: Why can’t I see my HoloReplay if I recently completed a segment?

A: Your HoloReplay will NOT use a PR or recent completion set in a group workout or Meetup.

Q: How are HoloReplays different from RoboPacers?

A: RoboPacers are bots you can draft. HoloReplay plays back your own personal best effort, most recent segment completion, or most recent route completion, is visible only to you, and doesn’t provide a draft.

Q: Where can I use HoloReplay?

A: HoloReplays can be used in any segment with a leaderboard or any route. One catch? You must be in freeride mode or riding with a Pacer Group. HoloReplays cannot be used in events, group workout, races, or club rides. PR or recent completion also will not be captured in group workouts or Meetups.

Q: How do HoloReplays ride through a segment or route when they appear? Do they ride at a consistent pace?

A: Your HoloReplay will ride at the same speeds that you rode when you set the time on the segment or route. If you went faster in one part and slower in another, your HoloReplay will do the same. It will also follow your turns and changes of position on the road. If you’re using steering and make a few swerves, that will also appear in the game.

Q: Why doesn’t my HoloReplay work in club events or Meetups?

A: Event, race, workout, group workout, Meetup, Club, or group rides are not considered free rides, so your HoloReplay won’t show up in these settings.

Q: Can I turn the HoloReplay on or off? Can I change the PR, segment, or route data it uses?

A: Yes, you can always choose whether or not your HoloReplay will appear. You can also have your HoloReplay use your most recent segment or route instead of your PR data. The controls for HoloReplay Visibility are in your settings.

Q: Can I share my HoloReplay with other Zwifters?

A: In your settings you can select to make your route replay visible to other Zwifters. They'll then be able to see your replay if you're on their current leaderboard and you finished the segment a little faster than their predicted finish time. You can't send your replay to another Zwifter or select who gets to see it.

Q: Can I view another Zwifter's HoloReplay?

A: Yes. In your settings you can select if you'd like to view other Zwifter's route replays in routes with a leaderboard.

Q: Can I select which Zwifter's HoloReplay to view?

A: For now, we'll select a HoloReplay for you that'll be just challenging enough for you to chase down. We'll use your 60 day power curve and current speed in the segment to spawn a HoloReplay that's slightly faster than your predicted finish time for the segment. Remember, you'll only see another Zwifter's HoloReplay in routes with a leaderboard and if you have the setting turned on.

If you don't have 60 day power curve data, we'll use the higher of zFTP or your last 10 second power average going into the segment.

Q: Can I ride with my own HoloReplay and another Zwifter's HoloReplay at the same time?

A: Yes. Depending on the settings you choose, you can ride with your own and another Zwifter's HoloReplay at the same time.

Q: Why do HoloReplays look different? Why doesn’t my HoloReplay look like my avatar? What will the HoloReplay look like when it appears?

A: HoloReplays are transparent, and the kit you were riding at the time you completed the segment or route will not appear. However, the bike, helmet, and wheels will appear solid and will be the same as you used either for your PR or your most recent completion of the segment or route.

Q: What does my HoloReplay look like when it spawns for another Zwifter?

A: The bike and wheels you used for the segment will be shown, but your avatar will be generic and a transparent white.

Q: Can I control or customize my HoloReplay?

A: There are no customization options available for your HoloReplay. This is a visual representation of your avatar, including the exact wheels, frame, helmet, shoes, socks and powerups used in the PR, segment, or route completion.

Q: How can I change my camera view to see my HoloReplay if it is behind me?

A: You can easily change your camera view change your camera angle from the Action Bar.

Q: Can I draft my HoloReplay?

A: No free leadout here—you cannot draft your HoloReplay.

Q: Can someone else draft my HoloReplay?

A: No, HoloReplays can't be drafted.

Q: Is there a visual indication that I’m in the middle of a training session with my HoloReplay?

A: No. No one else is able to see your HoloReplay, aside from you. Your HoloReplay will appear in the Riders Nearby list, where it will be delineated with a nameplate that’s distinctly different from other Zwifters—similar to Pace Partner. The HoloReplay will also have an icon over its head, making it easier to spot in a pack of riders.

Q: Can my HoloReplay follow my Strava PR instead of my Zwift PR?

A: Not at this time. From launch, HoloReplay will only be able to follow your Zwift PR, or the time of your most recent completion of the segment or route.

Ride On.
