Training Plan FAQ
Q: What's a training plan?
A: Training plans are a series of structured workouts that are designed to accomplish a specific fitness goal, while still allowing some flexibility to accommodate your schedule.
Q: What happens if I skip a workout?
A: If you miss a workout, it'll remain available and unlocked if you would like to return to the workout at a later time. It's up to you whether you return and complete the workout or simply continue to the next one.
Q: Do I have to complete an entire workout to receive credit for it?
A: In order for a workout to be considered complete, you must complete, or skip, each block within the workout.
If you don't complete, or if you skip a workout block, you won't earn XP for that block.
Q: Do I have to complete all workouts in a training plan to receive credit for the training plan?
A: You must complete approximately 80% of the workouts within a training plan to receive credit for the overall plan. If you don't complete at least 80% of the workouts within the time available for the plan, there's a 2 week window once the plan finishes for you to complete additional workouts to reach at least 80% and receive completion credit.
Q: Can workouts be completed in any order?
A: You can complete the workouts for your training plan in any order; however, you'll get the most out of our plans by following the designated order.
Q: How do I skip an available workout?
A: To skip a workout—simply select another available activity. As a reminder, you must complete approximately 80% of the workouts within a training plan to receive credit for the overall plan and to earn the coveted training plan socks for your avatar.
Q: Is there a way to pause or suspend a training plan?
A: No, training plans can't be paused or suspended. However, to offer further flexibility, each training plan offers an extra two week window in which it can be completed.
Q: What is a Fitness Level Profile (FTP)?
A: A term used in cycling, FTP stands for Functional Threshold Power and represents the highest power output, measured in wattage, you can sustain for a long time, usually between 40 minutes to an hour. For cycling training plans, Zwift uses your unique FTP to set your training zones and tailor each workout your fitness level.
Q: How can I tell if I'm enrolled in a training plan?
A: If you're enrolled in a training plan you'll see it displayed first—and with ENROLLED at the top—when you visit the Plans screen in-game.
Q: Can I cancel a training plan?
A: Yes, check out our articles for info on canceling a cycling or running training plan.
You must re-enroll in a training plan within seven days of selecting "Cancel Plan" to maintain your progress within that plan.
Q: Can I do a training plan for running and cycling at the same time?
A: While our training plans are designed to be completed one at a time, we do offer a Multisport Mixer plan that offers both cycling and running workouts in the same plan.
Q: Why can't I customize my training plan?
A: While we do allow some flexibility within our plans, the individual workouts can’t be modified—as our plans are designed to accomplish a specific fitness goal. In the future, we're considering incorporating more customization into our training plans, but want to make sure we get it right and don't compromise the integrity of the overall plan.
Q: How long are training plan windows?
A: The windows for individual workouts, and the training plan overall, will vary with from plan to plan with plans being as short as 1 week and as long as 12 weeks.
Q: Can I ride or run outside?
A: Yes! You can choose to do any workout from the training plan outdoors. Simply click the “I did it!” on the bottom right corner of the day's workout to receive credit for your outdoor activity.
Q: Can I view my details for completed training plans?
A: Yes, when you view a Training Plan in-game, you'll see details for any completed workouts and the overall plan summary. Keep in mind, this data will be reset if you enroll in a new attempt at the training plan.
Ride On.
