# Customizing Your Avatar

You can customize your avatar’s appearance and gear from the in-game Garage.

## Things to Know

*   You’ll start with a few customization options and unlock more as you level up. Completing in-game missions and campaigns, such as Zwift Academy, can also unlock new gear.
    
*   All head and hair types are available regardless of the gender selected for your profile.
    
*   After you select a head type, you’ll be provided with the masculine or feminine body type associated with that head type. You can then select a body size.
    
*   If you select a masculine head type, you can also select facial hair.
    
*   If you’ve entered a Promo Code to unlock a new kit, such as the InGamba kit, it’ll appear in the Customization Menu.
    

## Customize Your Avatar

1.  Open your garage:
    
    *   From the Home Screen, select the Garage icon.

    *   If you've started an activity, select **MENU**, then select **Garage**.

2.  From **MY GARAGE**, select the customization option you want to update.
    
    *   Select **ME** to update your avatar's head, body, or hair.
        
    *   Select another available option to customize your avatar’s gear.

3.  When you're finished customizing your avatar, select **CLOSE**.

    Your changes will show on your avatar once you leave the menu and start Zwifting again.
