# Connecting a Kinetic

Whether you have a [Kinetic Smart Control Trainer](#Kinetic) or a [Kinetic inRide](#Kinetic2), we've got you covered. Complete the appropriate steps below before [connecting to Zwift](https://support.zwift.com/en_us/connecting-your-devices-for-cycling-HJIFDrw5S):

## Kinetic Smart Control Trainer

Prior to connecting to Zwift, complete the steps below:

1.  Using the [Kinetic Fit app](https://www.kinetic.fit/), update the firmware on your Kinetic Smart Control Trainer to the latest available version.
2.  In the Kinetic Fit app, complete a 20-minute **Free Ride** workout.
3.  In the Kinetic Fit app, calibrate your trainer.
4.  Fully close the Kinetic Fit app to disconnect your trainer.

## Kinetic inRide

In order to get the best experience from your Kinetic inRide, here's what you'll want to do:

The Kinetic inRide works with Zwift via Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE).

1.  Using the [Kinetic Fit app](https://www.kinetic.fit/), update the firmware on your Kinetic inRide to the latest available version.
2.  In the Kinetic Fit app, calibrate your sensor.
3.  Fully close the Kinetic Fit app to disconnect your devices.
