# Climb Portal FAQ

**Q:** What is Climb Portal?

A: Climb Portal is your go to spot for a fun and challenging climb. We have a [rotating selection](https://support.zwift.com/climb-portal-climbs-HkOFfZ222) of real world climbs simulated on Zwift with their very own look and feel.

**Q:** What climbs are available?

A: Check out our [Climb Portal Climbs](https://support.zwift.com/climb-portal-climbs-HkOFfZ222) article for info on the climbs in the rotation.

**Q:** Is Climb Portal available to run?

A: Runners can access the Climb Portal in the same way riders do. The portal routes are intended to replicate the feel of real life climbs so it’s your chance to manually challenge yourself on some steep inclines.

**Q:** How often are new climbs be available?

A: While we don’t have an official timeline of when new climbs will be added, be sure to check back frequently.

**Q:** Can I import or create my own climbs?

A: Zwifting is more fun with the community. Because of this, we want the community to be a part of your Climb Portal ascents by keeping the route selection Zwift-curated.

**Q:** Can event organizers use Climb Portal?

A: The only way to take part in Climb Portal is to join from the Home Screen or turn into the portal from the route you join.

**Q:** Can I adjust the elevation of a climb?

A: Yes, when you select a Climb Portal route from the Home Screen, you can choose to complete the climb at 50%, 75%, or 100% of the real-world elevation. If you're ready for an even tougher challenge, we've got you covered! Once you've completed a climb at 100% elevation, you'll unlock the option to complete the climb at 125% elevation.

**Q:** Are smart trainers able to use trainer difficulty settings to make these climbs feel less steep?

A: Yes, trainer difficulty settings can be used to your advantage just as climbing a hill in a lower gear creates a climbing advantage. Additionally, some trainers will not be able to match the climb grade in some instances due to the extreme grade. In those instances, your trainer will stay at its highest grade until you move back into a section that is within your trainer’s capabilities.

**Q:** Will I feel the effects of scaling the climb and trainer difficulty at the same time?

A: Yes, these features work together.

**Q:** What does the environment inside the portal look like?

A: There are color cues for when your elevation gain gets steeper or flatter and the Zwifty tarmac forms to replicate the real climb’s every turn. The design is built to work with any climb so there will not be specific art elements from the real climbs along the road.

*   **Blue:** Incline <=1%

*   **Yellow:** Incline >1% - <=4%

*   **Orange:** Incline >4% - <=8%

*   **Red:** Incline >8%

**Q:** How do you access the climb portal?

A: There are permanent portals in both Watopia and France. Just like selecting which path to take, when you are coming to a Climb Portal, you will have the option to stay on the route and ride through or turn to enter the portal. There are also routes involving both of these portals you can select from the Home Screen. Check out the “just ride” row and select the Climb Portal route to be placed on the path that leads right to the portal.

**Q:** Do these climbs appear in the Zwift Companion leaderboards?

A: These climbs do not appear on the Zwift Companion Leaderboards as the climbs are not permanent.

**Q:** Is this a one way climb or is the descent part of the climb portal as well? Can I repeat the climb if I am so inclined to without leaving the portal?

A: You get to descend the climb as well. You can ride it as many times as you want by performing u-turns.

**Q:** Does the climb portal contain RoboPacers or HoloReplay?

A: HoloReplays are available to use on the climb but not RoboPacers.

**Q:** Are there be a leaderboard on Climb Portals?

A: There is 1 leaderboard per epic climb.

**Q:** Are there KOM segments on Climb Portals?

A: Yes, but they don't show up in Leaderboards on Zwift Companion. You'll be able to see the times of other Zwifters and spawn a HoloReplay from a Zwifter from the leaderboard that is likely to push you a little harder.

**Q:** Does Coffee Stop work on Climb Portal?

A: Yes, [Coffee Stop](https://support.zwift.com/en_us/coffee-stop-rJ9nZrO43) is available.

Ride On.
