# Choosing a Cassette for the Zwift Hub

The Zwift Hub shipped with a pre-installed Shimano- and SRAM-compatible 8, 9, 10, 11, or 12 speed cassette—or no cassette if you opted to install your own. Your bike's cassette—the group of cogs at the center of your rear wheel—is a crucial part of your drivetrain and it's important to ensure you have the correct cassette speed installed on your trainer before you start Zwifting. If you have a new bike, or you're [installing a cassette](https://support.zwift.com/installing-a-cassette-on-your-zwift-hub-SyMT8TWa5) on a Zwift Hub, check out the steps below to identify the correct cassette speed for your bike.

Using an incorrect cassette speed can damage your bike.

You can also purchase a [Zwift Cog and Click Upgrade Kit](https://us.zwift.com/collections/training-accessories/products/zwift-cog-and-click-upgrade-kit?variant=45867396563200)—we recommend the Zwift Cog with multi-trainer freehub for the Zwift Hub. Zwift Cog is compatible with almost any 8-12-speed bike and is the perfect way to upgrade your setup.

1. Identify the bike you'll be using for your Zwift sessions on your Zwift Hub.

    Always check your bike's user manual to make sure your bike is trainer compatible before installing your bike on any trainer.

2. Count the number of cogs on your rear wheel.

    *   For example: 10 cogs = 10 speed.

3. Count the number of teeth on the smallest cog on the cassette—this will tell you the first T number for your cassette.

    *   For example: 11-xxT

4. Count the number of teeth on the largest cog on the cassette—this will tell you the second T number for your cassette.

    *   For example: xx-28T

Zwift's 8, 9, 10, and 11 speed cassettes are 11-28T, our 12 speed cassette is 11-30T.

Ride On.
