## Basic Info for Riding in Zwift

**Q:** Can I Use My Smartphone/Tablet to Ride on Zwift?

A: Yes! We currently support both iOS and Android operating systems. Check out our article for more info on [supported devices](https://support.zwift.com/supported-devices-to-run-zwift-H1Cj9QbeB) to run Zwift.

**Q:** I plan on using a Smartphone/Tablet to Ride on Zwift. What do I need to download?

A: While you can just download and launch Zwift from the [Apple®](https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/zwift-mobile-link/id934083691?mt=8 "Apple®") or [Google Play](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.zwift.android.prod "Google Play") store—using the Zwift Companion (ZC) app will create an even more interactive Zwift experience. Check out this [article](https://support.zwift.com/en_us/using-the-zwift-companion-app-rJ7ayD_ES "article") for more info on the ZC app.

**Q:** Can I Ride on Zwift through Airplay or Chromecast?

A: While we understand the desire to use Airplay or Chromecast, we don't recommend it. AirPlay and Chromecast are only intended for photos and video, and video games tend to lag badly when streamed.

**Q:** Do I Need an Internet Connection to Ride on Zwift?

A: Yes! Zwift is a multiplayer online game, so we recommend bandwidth of 3Mbps or higher, with a ping of under 50ms.

To test your speed, we recommend doing a speed test using a site like [speedtest.net/](http://www.speedtest.net/ "speedtest.net/") against a server on the US west coast (where our servers are located) to get an idea of what you can expect.

**Q:** How much data does Zwift require?

A: On average, Zwift transfers about 16,000 B/s, or about 55 MB/h.

**Q:** What is a Ride On and what happens when I get one?

A: A [Ride On](https://support.zwift.com/en_us/giving-a-ride-on-H1P9a4ber) is an opportunity to give your fellow Zwifters a bit of encouragement. If someone gives you a Ride On, you'll see a thumbs up above your head—along with the name of the person who gave it to you. As you rack up Ride Ons, your jersey pockets start to grow. When you end your ride, you'll see the Ride Ons you received in your [RIDE REPORT](https://support.zwift.com/en_us/your-ride-report-HJ8dAVer). You can also find this info by logging in to your Zwift Dashboard and viewing your Activity history.

**Q:** How many different courses are available on Zwift?

A: Currently there are five worlds available on Zwift—each with a ton of routes. To see a full list, check out this [article](https://support.zwift.com/en_us/zwift-worlds-and-cycling-routes-Sy2_gxTGB "article").

**Q:** Can I complete multiple ridesin one Zwift session?

A: Absolutely! Although—we strongly recommend you save your ride after each session to prevent your activity from uploading improperly.

## Cycling Equipment/Setup

**Q:** What equipment do I need to ride?

A: Great question, you'll need a trainer and a bike, the [Zwift Ride with KICKR CORE](https://us.zwift.com/collections/all/products/zwift-ride-kickr-core?variant=45155409920256) has both! Check out this [article](https://support.zwift.com/en_us/what-you-need-to-ride-HJh4YQbxr) for more info on what you need to ride.

**Q:** How do I know if my trainer works on Zwift?

A: No worries, we got you covered! Check out our [Wheel-on Trainer](https://support.zwift.com/en_us/wheel-on-trainers-r1B5nQWxS "Wheel-on Trainer") or [Direct Drive Trainer](https://support.zwift.com/en_us/direct-drive-trainers-B1oH2meS "Direct Drive Trainer") articles for a full compatibility list. If you don't find what you are looking for there, feel free to [reach out](https://support.zwift.com/contact/contact-us-HJH8N4RNQ " reach out") to us—we're here to help!

Grab a USB extension cable to get the dongle closer to your equipment and prevent dropouts.

**Q:** How do I set up my trainer?

A: Great question! While we don't have every trainers set up instructions—we do have quite a few. Check out our [Support Hub](https://support.zwift.com/categories/getting-set-up-SJXnVwmDQ "Support hub ") for trainer specific articles.

**Q:** I've connected everything. What now?

A: If you want, you can connect additional optional devices, such as a heart rate monitor or cadence sensor; but if you’re ready to go, you can select a route and get started Zwifting. Check out our article for info on the different [ride types](https://support.zwift.com/en_us/ride-types-ryXAjrqYo).

**Q:** What is an ANT+ dongle used for when cycling on Zwift? Where can I get one?

A: For a computer, a USB ANT+ dongle is what receives the signals from the sensors on your bike or your trainer and transmits them to Zwift. For iOS, any USB2 ANT+ dongle should work. We recommend the USB-m as it has the best results in the lab. You can pick up either an [ANT+ Bundle](https://zwift.com/shop/product/ant-bundle "ANT+ Bundle") or an [ANT+ dongle and extension cable](https://zwift.com/shop/product/usb-ant-extension-cable "ANT+ dongle and extension cable") from the [Zwift Shop](https://zwift.com/shop "Zwift Shop").

**Q:** I don't have the right equipment. What else can I do?

A: No sweat! You can still spectate while waiting for your gear to arrive. Root other riders on by giving them "Ride Ons" as they steal a jersey or just post impressive efforts! After you sign in, select Just Watch on the pairing screen to load fan view.

Zwift will automatically focus in on the fastest rider at that moment but you can select other Zwifters at any time.

## Followers and Fellow Zwifters

**Q:** How do I ride with a fellow Zwifter?

A: Riding with other Zwifters is easy, you can [teleport](https://support.zwift.com/en_us/teleporting-in-zwift-ByCwOYCUn) to another zwifter or you can schedule a [meetup](https://support.zwift.com/en_us/meetups-HJP7iUd4r) with the Zwift Companion (ZC) app—and once you follow someone, it's even easier to join them for a ride!

**Q:** Can I remove a follower without following them?

A: If you were following them before, select the orange follow button and select Remove Follower without following them. If you weren't following them before, then no - you will have to follow them first, then Remove Follower.

**Q:** Can I block an individual from following me?

A: Yes, you can [block another Zwifter](https://support.zwift.com/en_us/blocking-another-member-S1IMkzOtC) using the ZC app.

**Q:** How do I report another Zwifter during a ride ?

A: In the rare case of a disruptive rider , you can [flag](https://support.zwift.com/en_us/reporting-another-zwifter-Bk7_B0FNB) them for harassment, bad language, or a potentially incorrect setup.

Ride On.
